The countdown to our eighth annual Security Serious Unsung Heroes Awards is officially underway, with less than a week to go until nominations close, there is still time to put forward the individuals that you feel deserve recognition for their efforts in the cybersecurity industry. There is a wide selection of categories to nominate from with a few of the most notable being the best Data Guardian and Security Awareness Campaign.
Data has quickly become one of the most sought-after commodities and is commonly exploited by cyber criminals which emphasises the need for protection from the adversaries. The Unsung Heroes Awards, Data Guardian category was created to showcase the individual who is always looking out for the interests of the everyday individual to ensure that customer and employee data are protected from prying eyes to ensure their privacy is preserved. Last year’s winner of the Data Guardian prize was Bev Allen, Head of Information Security Assurance at Quilter.
In a world filled with imminent cyberthreats, it’s never been more important to educate organisations about these threats and digital behaviours within the workplace. Thus, security awareness campaigns play a key role in getting the message across. For the Security Awareness Campaign category, the judges will be seeking to honour the campaign and individuals that have organised the campaign who have gone above and beyond to raise awareness of cyberthreats, to help organisations protect their assets.
Last year’s winner of the Security Awareness Campaign, Helen Williams, Information Security Awareness and Culture Manager at Bupa said:
“Bupa’s Information Security Awareness Team are honoured to receive the award for best awareness campaign! It’s wonderful that our hard work has been recognised by the panel of expert judges who were inspired by what we mean by approaching awareness differently.
