Behind the Headlines: October 2025

October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month. When distilled down, ‘cybersecurity awareness’ is at the core of what we, as a dedicated cyber PR agency, do. We strive to make cyber accessible and understandable for all, from consumers to the board (and everyone in between). Cyber awareness lies behind every quote, every headline, every piece of research. Whilst the awareness month or day in general may seem passé, there’s always a place for cyber awareness, October or otherwise. So, what else have we been up to this October, besides bringing cyber to the masses?

Eskenzi Out and About: KnowBe4 Con EMEA and Saviynt

The second annual KB4-CON EMEA took place in London on 23 October, bringing together KnowBe4 partners, customers, and prospects for an exclusive look at KnowBe4’s future vision of workforce trust – bridging the relationship between humans and AI. The event also featured a press roundtable with KnowBe4 CEO Bryan Palma, offering European journalists, including Dan Raywood and Ann-Marie Corvin, the opportunity to discuss the evolving landscape of human and AI risk management.

It was all about Identity Security at Saviynt’s annual UNLOCK event in London! The Saviynt team put on a brilliant show, diving into how they’re tackling today’s toughest identity security challenges and sharing real-world stories about AI-native, intelligent identity security. It was brilliant to hear customers talking openly about how they’re planning to use, or already using, these new capabilities to stay ahead.

The closing keynote from Gareth Tennant MSc, former Head of Operational Intelligence for the Royal Marines, was a real eye-opener. His insights into decision-making under pressure and staying prepared in uncertain environments hit exactly the right note for anyone navigating today’s cybersecurity landscape. A huge well done to the Saviynt team for delivering such a great event!

Huntress Shines in the Headlines with Eskenzi PR Rapid Response

We were super happy to celebrate another great win for our client Huntress in October. Following their expert commentary on the widely reported incident involving 183 million exposed email–password pairs, our rapid response secured over 30 pieces of high-quality media coverage across leading cybersecurity, technology, and business outlets. This success highlights the strong relationships Eskenzi PR has established with the media and the increasing demand for timely, credible insights from our clients. A fantastic result for Huntress and a testament to the power of well-executed cybersecurity PR. We’re excited to keep building on this momentum and delivering standout coverage for our clients.

Celebrating the Check Point Cyber Leader Summits

Account Manager Charley Nash spent a few days in October following the Check Point Software team across the UK and Ireland for the annual Check Point Cyber Leader Summits. With stops in Edinburgh, Manchester and Dublin, the events, which were a mix of networking, keynote presentations, and panel discussions, were insightful and thought-provoking, sparking a whole array of proactive ideas. The conversations – agnostic to Check Point products and capabilities – spanned everything from agentic AI (including a very fun AI made rock song), cyber resilience and the future of cyber. Underpinning the entire series of events was the key theme of community. As Mark Weir, Regional Director for the UK & Ireland, said: “community is at the core of winning” against cybercrime.

Eskenzi Northern Office: Visiting Leeds Leeds Leeds (The UK’s Up and Coming Cyber Hub)

On her travels, Charley also spent a few days with Account Director Melanie Johnson-Hollidayat the Eskenzi Northern Office near Leeds (or, as Mel would call it, “Leeds Leeds Leeds”). A change of scenery – and some genuinely fresh air – can be great for creativity and brainstorming!

What’s more, Leeds has become a significant hub for cybersecurity in recent years, with KnowBe4, among others, choosing the city as a UK base. Cybersecurity is no longer wholly London centric, a trend we’re seeing among both companies and sought after talent. As we wrote about last month, the Eskenzi team helped to put on a successful and well attended event in Leeds for KnowBe4 in September. Additionally, the Yorkshire area also has a rich and expansive regional publication landscape, like The Yorkshire Post (which Javvad Malik, Lead CISO Advisor at KnowBe4, has regularly contributed to this year, including this pieceon the cyber risks of renewable energy).

On the Blog: Cyber Flywheel

In October, Eskenzi Co-Founder Yvonne Eskenzi attended the first Cyber Flywheel event, hosted by Alastair Paterson, CEO and co-founder of Harmonic Security. The event brought together the movers and shakers of the UK cyber scene, alongside investors and government figures, aiming to discuss how the UK could become a place that would rival the start-up and scale-up communities of Israel and the US.

Finding the experience both inspiring and invigorating, Yvonne wrote about the day for the Eskenzi blog. The full blog can be found here.

We’re Listening To: Accidentally Brilliant by BeBroadcast

At Eskenzi, we’re proud to know and work alongside other incredible PR professionals like Josh Wheeler from Be Broadcast. As such, when Yvonne was invited onto BeBroadcast’s Accidentally Brilliant podcast, we were all excited to hear the finished piece. A joyful and candid conversation exploring the criticality of creativity, trust, and longevity in PR –  revealing how authenticity, great people and a touch of serendipity shape lasting success.

Celebrating Halloween: AI Videos and Pumpkin Carving

The end of the month marked Halloween, as well as Account Executive James Turnbull’s last day. Whilst there’s truly nothing scarier than a bad cybersecurity posture, as exemplified by this spectacular AI-generated APIContext video, we still managed to get in some spooky office fun! The Barnet team carved pumpkins and chowed down on some Halloween themed cookies from a local independent bakery.

Looking Towards November

The end of the year is nigh (sorry), but there’s still lots going on at Eskenzi! Keep an eye out for the launch of the nominations for the Most Inspiring Women in Cyber Awards over the next couple of weeks.

We’re also looking for a Senior Account Executive to join our Barnet team! If you know someone with a bit of PR experience and a lot of enthusiasm and willingness to learn, please send their CV to eskenzi@eskenzipr.com.
