A Cybersecurity PR Agency Celebrates 10 Years of Unsung Heroes
There are many skills involved in cybersecurity PR. As we discovered while preparing for this year’s Security Serious Unsung Heroes Award, a last-minute scramble to buy a projector is apparently one of them.
Thankfully, the evening gave us plenty of reasons to relax, laugh and remember why we do this.
Last night, our cybersecurity PR agency brought the cybersecurity community together at St Barts in London for the tenth annual Security Serious Unsung Heroes Awards. A decade of celebrating the people who keep organisations safe, support their colleagues, share their knowledge and help others find their place in the industry. It felt like a milestone worth celebrating (with cake!).
A room full of community spirit
One of the loveliest things about the event is the mix of people in the room. Senior security leaders rub shoulders with apprentices, educators, researchers, journalists and people using their own experiences to help others. Looking around the room, it was hard not to think back to the first awards and reflect on how much has changed, especially from a cybersecurity PR perspective.
The range of people, experiences and perspectives represented this year was truly encouraging. Seeing people from different backgrounds and career paths celebrating together gave us plenty of reasons to feel positive about the industry’s future. Across the categories, the winners showed just how many different ways there are to make a difference in cybersecurity, from technical expertise and leadership to wellbeing, communication and community support.
There were plenty of CISOs joining the celebrations this year, thanks in large part to our close relationship with Pulse Conferences. Bringing these leaders together with people at different stages of their careers creates space for conversations and connections that might otherwise never happen.
Thank you for making it possible
Keeping the awards free to enter and attend has always mattered to us. Our sponsors make that possible. A huge thank you to CultureAI, Filigran, OneAdvanced, The Zensory, CyberASAP and Pulse Conferences, alongside our media partners Computer Weekly, Information Security Buzz and IT Security Guru.
Above all, congratulations to every nominee and winner. Thank you to everyone who put forward a colleague, mentor, friend or team whose contribution deserved recognition.
After ten years, the Security Serious Unsung Heroes Award continue to remind us why we love being part of this industry and working in cybersecurity PR. Get in touch if you’d like to help us keep the awards going for an 11th year!
