Bella in Barnet: An Intern’s Reflection on Her Time with Eskenzi PR

You put an American university student into a London PR agency, and what do you get? Evidently, a summer of invaluable experiences, lifelong memories, and new connections.   Hi there, I’m Isabella and I have spent the last 8 weeks interning at Eskenzi PR. These 8 weeks have been filled with excitement, new opportunities, and experiences that I know will stay with me forever. So much so, I find it hard to say goodbye as I end my time here at the end of this week.   My first week on the job was spent at Inforsecurity Europe 2024. The first task at hand: gathering surveys on behalf of a client from convention attendees. Needless to say, I was quite intimidated by this, but with the help of my fellow intern, Dash, we were able to team up and conquer this task. Although it challenged me in the moment, reflecting back on, I can see that through that experience I grew a lot. And honestly, what a great way to nosedive into the world of cybersecurity, technology and Eskenzi PR.   The rest of the summer was booked with other exciting opportunities. The next week I found myself on one of the top floors of the Shard building. Surrounded by beautiful views of the city, I was filming interviews with CEOs and Founders of cyber companies for the International Cyber Expo. I helped to run the camera and sound for these interviews, something I discovered I really enjoy. One week, I attended the Williams Racing FanZone in Piccadilly Circus to see one of my clients’— Keeper’s — 360º camera. Keeper was a sponsor of Williams this year, so it was very cool to see their branding throughout the FanZone. Even beyond that, being part of the excitement during race week was very special.   While at Eskenzi, I had the fabulous opportunity to work alongside Jade and Jasmine Eskenzi on The Zensory — an app designed for mindfulness and wellness in the midst of busy days. My work for them included a full social media audit, pitching brand guide ideas, and planning and executing a content filming day. Though I did more work with them throughout, those were the three biggest that guided my time with them. I found it very exciting to be part of The Zensory, and rewarding to see my ideas welcomed and executed. I also loved being a part of a company that was started and is run by two incredibly strong and smart women. As a woman who is starting her career in less than a year, being surrounded by empowered women is something that is really important and inspiring to me. All in all, my time with The Zensory was something I will cherish beyond these 8 weeks.   The other client I had a chance to work with, as mentioned previously, was Keeper — a password management software company. Some of my tasks for Keeper included weekly meetings, building media lists through Agility PR Solutions, finding articles for comment opportunities, and being part of the FanZone experience. Sitting in on the weekly meetings between Eskenzi and Keeper gave me great insight into the role of a PR agency with their clients, what exactly an agency can do for their client, and the relationships between a client and an agency. Also having the experience of building media lists with the Agility software, as well as finding comment opportunities, are both something I think will be very valuable to as I go along in my career.   Coming into this experience, I knew I was going to grow and learn something new. What I didn’t prepare myself for were the fabulous opportunities and experiences that my work with Eskenzi would provide me. Beyond that, I could not have asked for better people to work with. I am so grateful to have felt welcomed to the Eskenzi team with open arms and made to feel super comfortable in the office and in conversation with everyone. The people at Eskenzi are some of the kindest and smartest people I have worked with. I feel lucky to have played a small part in the work of this company, and within its incredible team.
