OUR HISTORY
1995 - 2000
Founded and Built a Cybersecurity Reputation
Eskenzi PR was founded in 1995, launching into the cybersecurity world with Reed Exhibitions’ Infosecurity Europe as its first retained client. As the Y2K Millennium Bug loomed, the agency expanded and hired its first full-time employee. These early years saw Eskenzi establish itself as a trusted communications partner for technology and security innovators. Its expertise in cybersecurity PR, combined with a strong industry network, laid the groundwork for its future reputation. By 2000, Eskenzi had become recognised for bringing creativity and credibility to a growing industry that was just beginning to understand the power of specialist public relations.
2001 - 2005
Client List Grew Rapidly
In 2001, Eskenzi PR began representing its first cybersecurity vendors, Websense and Pointsec. The latter’s $500 million sale just seven years later demonstrated the agency’s impact in shaping billion-dollar brands. Eskenzi’s client list grew to include Cyberguard, Lancope, Secure Computing, and Fortify. By 2005, one client’s billion-dollar sale cemented Eskenzi’s reputation for transforming emerging companies into industry giants. The agency became synonymous with growth, IPO success, and thought leadership in security communications. These years positioned Eskenzi as a powerhouse in cybersecurity PR, helping define how technology brands connected with their audiences on a global stage.
2006 - 2010
Launched Industry Forums
Eskenzi PR launched the IT Security Analyst & CISO Forum in 2006, bringing together leading analysts and CISOs for groundbreaking industry discussions. Founders Yvonne Eskenzi and Neil Stinchcombe joined the White Hat Ball Committee in 2007, further strengthening their ties to the cybersecurity community. In 2010, the agency launched IT Security Guru, a daily cybersecurity news site, and celebrated its tenth client. These years saw Eskenzi evolve beyond PR into community-building and media creation, reinforcing its role as an essential voice for the cybersecurity industry while expanding its influence across Europe and beyond.
2011 - 2015
International Expansion
Eskenzi’s international expansion began in 2012 with the opening of a US base to support client Varonis, followed by offices in Germany, France, and marketing support in Australia. The company launched Security Serious Week in 2014 to promote cybersecurity awareness and founded the Security Serious Unsung Hero Awards in 2015 to honour industry professionals. That same year, Eskenzi created sister agency Smile on Fridays and managed over 200 European marketing events annually for Varonis. By mid-decade, Eskenzi PR had become an international leader in cybersecurity communications, known for innovation, influence, and an unwavering commitment to industry growth.
2016 - 2020
Received the Queen's Award for Enterprise
In 2016, Hacker Tales debuted, gaining huge success during European Cybersecurity Awareness Month. By 2017, Eskenzi had reached 30 clients. In 2018, the company received the Queen’s Award for Enterprise, launched Eskenzi PR Digital, hosted the European Cybersecurity Bloggers Awards, and partnered in Singapore to support global growth. A Brazilian representative joined in 2019, marking its 25th anniversary. In 2020, Eskenzi launched Ouvert Comms, a crisis communications arm, and The Zensory to combat burnout in cyber. Despite the pandemic, the agency successfully pivoted to virtual PR and event management, maintaining its leadership through resilience and adaptability.
2021 - 2025
Kept on Winning Awards
Eskenzi earned a Guinness World Record in 2021 for cybersecurity training with clients KnowBe4 and OneLogin, and launched the Most Inspiring Women in Cyber Awards. It co-founded the International Cyber Expo in 2022 and celebrated its fifth unicorn with KnowBe4’s sale. In 2023, Eskenzi expanded globally, hosting marketing events in San Francisco. Co-founder Neil Stinchcombe chaired the NSPCC White Hat Ball in 2024, raising £2M, while the agency diversified into AI and quantum clients like Sandbox AQ. By 2025, Eskenzi will enter its 30th year in business, hosting its fifth Women in Cyber Awards with record nominations and fundraising success.
