I know, why don’t we set a World Record?

As we all know, October is officially regarded as Cybersecurity Awareness Month, which is a time where the cybersecurity industry comes together to get society thinking about cybersecurity and the importance of it in everyday life. At Eskenzi PR, we also play our part by organising our own Security Serious Week during the month, which brings together the best security minds and talent to help increase security awareness. Using a variety of platforms like webinars, awards, quizzes and tweet chats, we really give the press something to write about and to offer people both inside and outside of the industry something worthwhile and educational to further their cybersecurity awareness.

This year, however, we are doing something very different and never seen before in a bid to get to get as many people to take security seriously…

As a child, I remember every Christmas getting the latest edition of the Guinness World Record Book, instantly flipping across the myriad of colourful achievements. From the world’s longest moustache to the world’s tallest Lego tower, there are over 53,000 records officially documented from a variety of categories including Animals & Nature, Arts and Media, Food, Construction, Size & Speed and Technology.

So, I wondered if cybersecurity or if anything related to cyber had been covered given the size of the industry. Oddly enough, cybersecurity records were few and far between.

This gave me a lightbulb moment – why don’t we try and set a world record for the most people to that take an online security lesson?

After investigating further, we discovered because this was to be completed virtually and not in-person – thanks to COVID – this record will not have been set before, meaning it will be the first of its kind.

Basically, we are the torch-bearers…no pressure then!

Thankfully, we have the support of KnowBe4 and OneLogin, two of the world’s most exciting cybersecurity companies, who also share our vision to try and spread cybersecurity awareness to all four corners of the world.

The training provided will be given to cybersecurity professionals, such as CISOs, CIOs, sys admins, security engineers or analysts. The goal is to tackle user awareness, organisational security culture and other hot topics so that these professionals will then pass this knowledge to the wider company. It will surely create a positive ripple within the community to spread advice on the important issues within the cybersecurity industry, particularly in the wake of some pretty major security incidents over the past year.

Although in its early stages, the wheels are starting to turn on this campaign and it is very exciting for all those involved. This project personifies everything about Eskenzi PR – it’s innovative, different and fun, and we want as many people as possible to participate when it goes live on Wednesday 13th October, 2021.

We hope you’ll be there to help us make history as we attempt to set a Guinness World Record to get the most individuals to take an online security lesson over a 24- hour period!

Keep an eye out for the Security Serious website for more updates on the event’s progress.
